What this measures
The number of people (main applicants and their dependants) receiving Home Office asylum support at the end of the quarter, split by the local authority they are accommodated in. This is a stock, not a flow.
What this doesn’t measure
Refugees who have been granted status, people on resettlement or Ukraine schemes, or the share of a local authority's population; local authority names are as published and not mapped to official codes.
Important caveat
This is a snapshot count at the end of the quarter of supported asylum seekers by the local authority they are accommodated in (or, for subsistence-only support, where they live). Local authority names are kept exactly as published by the Home Office and are not mapped to official geography codes, so a boundary or name change appears as a new value. Small counts are not suppressed by the Home Office in this dataset. Data for 2026 Q1 onwards is provisional.

No period of this series has been revised since it was first ingested here. Revisions are recorded automatically when a later release publishes a different figure for the same period.
