What this measures
The number of people offered a safe and legal (humanitarian) route to the UK in a 12-month period: resettlement arrivals, British National (Overseas) visa grants, Ukraine scheme visa grants and refugee family reunion visa grants, whether granted in or out of the country.
What this doesn’t measure
People granted protection after claiming asylum in the UK, or people who arrived by irregular routes.
Important caveat
This counts people offered a safe and legal (humanitarian) route: resettlement arrivals, BN(O) and Ukraine scheme visa grants, and refugee family reunion visas, including grants to people already in the UK. Individual routes opened at different times (the Ukraine schemes in 2022, the BN(O) route in 2021), so the total is dominated by whichever scheme was open. Figures for 2026 Q1 onwards are provisional and will be revised.
